SPRINGFIELD - The 2014 Missouri State men's golf schedule is set and includes a total of 10 tournaments, five in the fall and five in the spring, head coach Neal Stafford announced on Thursday.

The Bears will be returning to six tournaments from a season ago, including four of the five in the fall, as well as hosting the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Sunrise Beach, Mo., April 27-28.

"I am very pleased with our schedule this season," Stafford said. "We have a nice mix of events that will provide our team with several opportunities. We will be focusing on a strong start and build off that momentum through the fall."

Missouri State opens the new season at the Derek Dolenc Invitational on Sept. 8-9. Last year's golfers tied for seventh at Southern Illinois Edwardsville's tournament, one of eight top-10 team finishes on the year.

The following week, the Bears return to Illinois to compete in the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal before making the trip to Erie, Colo., for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.

The Bears will return to the Show-Me State on Oct. 13-14 for Kansas City's UMKC Bill Ross Intercollegiate, before concluding the fall stretch of the schedule at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in Choudrant, La., the following week.

Missouri State will return from the winter hiatus on Feb. 22-24 for the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz.

March has both the Grover Page Classic in Jackson, Tenn., and the UALR First Tee Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark., on the calendar, with the Bears scheduled to return to the Natural State the first weekend in April for the Red Wolves Intercollegiate.

The regular season concludes at the ORU Shootout in Broken Arrow, Okla., on April 13-14.

The Bears will host the MVC tournament for the first time since 2011.
