Bears' Young Named All-America Scholar

Missour State's Daily Young has been honored nationally for his work in the classroom in addition to the golf course. Young is one of 146 players nationally to be named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division I All-America Scholar Team for 2012.
Young, a Springfield native and Hillcrest High grad, will be a senior this fall with a 3.22 grade-point average while majoring in Sports & Parks Administration. He is a two-time all-Missouri Valley Conference selection on the course, ranked sixth in the league this past season with a 73.56 scoring average, and won two tournaments.
To be eligible for the team, which is also sponsored by the Golf Coaches Association of America, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
