Pair of Bears Named to Valley Academic Team
A pair of Missouri State student-athletes have earned selection to the 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team. Six Valley players were named to the first team while Bear seniors Scott Glenn and Ryan Weinhaus received honorable mention in voting conducted by the league's sports information directors.
Glenn, a Wichita, Kan., native, has maintained a 3.72 grade-point average while majoring in Entertainment Management. Weinhaus, from Chesterfield, Mo., carries a 3.42 GPA while majoring in Business Management.
Those named to the first team (with GPA and major) include: Jordan Cox, Southern Illinois (3.68, Commercial Recreation); Blake Driskell, Southern Illinois (3.92, Civil Engineering); Anders Engell, Wichita State (3.95, Business Administration); Jeff Kellen, Illinois State (3.65, History); Coby Thompson, Bradley (4.00, Chemistry) and Zach Wanken, Bradley (3.95, Chemistry).
To be eligible, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions or the conference championship.
