Missouri State ties for sixth in MVC men's golf
 

 

 

  The Missouri State men’s golf Bears improved their team score each round of the meet but still wound up in a tie for sixth place after Tuesday’s final round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Davenport Country Club in Davenport, Iowa.

  Wichita State ran away with the meet title with a three-round total of 850, easily outscoring Southern Illinois at 874, Illinois State at 884, Drake at 898 and Evansville at 899. Missouri State and Northern Iowa tied for sixth with 902 scored, Creighton shot 904 for eighth and Bradley finished at 921.

  The Bears’ round scores dropped from 306 to 300 to 296 as the tourney unfolded. The Bears were 19 strokes off the pace after the first round but that gap widened as Wichita State stayed hot.

  The Shockers were led by Connor McHenry with a five-under par 208 for tourney medalist honors with Dustin Garza of WSU second at 212. Missouri State’s Jack Courington finished tied for 13th with a final round total of 72 for a tourney score of 223. John Cronly shot 224, Damaso Carrera came in at 230 and Jay McBride and Ryan Weinhaus finished at 234.
