Langley Honored as Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week
March 26, 2014
ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior Nick Langley has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week Wednesday for the first time in his career. Langley is one of two male golfers to receive recognition for his performance this week, along with Wichita State's Louis Cohen Boyer.
Langley led Missouri State by carding 72-69-82--223 at the 21st Annual UALR/First Tee Classic in Little Rock, Ark. His 7th place individual finish helped guide the Bears to a team-best fifth place finish since the New Year's break. Langley recorded a tournament low 69 in the second round of competition, which gave him the lead after the first day of competition. Langley's Monday total (72-69--141) is a new career-best for the opening two rounds.
"Nick played very solid this week on a difficult golf course," said head coach Neal Stafford. "He has been working very hard the last few weeks and it was great to see those efforts pay off. The conditions were brutal in the final round with the combination of weather and hole locations. I was really proud of his poise out there this week and looking forward to building on his momentum moving into the second half of our spring season."
Missouri State returns to the course next week at the Memphis Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be played on March 31-April 1.
