Bears Eighth Entering Final Round at UALR, Hogan Tied for the Lead

The Missouri State men's golf team is in a three-way tie for eighth after the first day of the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark. The Bears shot 308-300--608 in Monday's (Mar. 26) first 36 holes at Chenal Country Club, tying with host UALR and UMKC. Senior Will Hogan led the way for MSU by firing 74-68--142 and is tied for the lead with Philipp Westermann of Southeastern Louisiana and Scott Kelly of Sam Houston State. Southeastern and Sam Houston are 1-2 in the team competition with 18 holes remaining, having recorded 583 and 588, respectively on Monday. Louisiana-Monroe is third with 594, and Illinois State and Austin Peay are tied for fourth at 596. Eastern Michigan is sixth at 601 with Oral Roberts seventh at 607. Following the three-way tie for eighth are Stephen F. Austin (609), Columbia (611), Western Kentucky and Bowling Green (613), Belmont (622) and Arkansas State (624). For the Bears, junior Daily Young was second on the team and 14th overall after shooting 71-78--149. Senior Jordan McLaurin is tied for 65th at 81-76--157, with sophomore Eric Straub at 83-78--161 and tied for 80th. Sophomore Nick Langley is 84th with 82-81--163. Tuesday's final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
