Bears Wind Up Seventh at Louisiana Tech

The Missouri State men's golf team posted its best round of the tournament Tuesday (Mar. 13) and moved up a spot on the final day of the Argent Financial Classic in Choudrant, La. The Bears shot 294 to go with 299-299 in the first two rounds to finish with a three-round total of 892 and a tie for seventh place with Texas-San Antonio. LSU captured the team championship by shooting 292-284-284--860 to top host Louisiana Tech, which recorded 288-294-285--867, by seven shots. Middle Tennessee State placed third with 870, followed by Jacksonville State, 880; Southern Mississippi, 882; Arkansas-Little Rock, 885; MSU and UTSA; and Rice, 909. Senior Jordan McLaurin posted MSU's best finish, finishing ninth after shooting 72-72-71--215. He finished four shots behind medalist Hunter Green of Middle Tennessee State. Junior Daily Young was next for the Bears with 73-78-75--226 and a tie for 35th. Sophomore Eric Straub was 41st with 76-78-74--228, while senior Will Hogan was a shot back with 83-72-74--229 and finished 42nd. Sophomore Nick Langley wound up 46th with 78-77-77--232. The Bears are idle next week before returning to action at the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark., Mar. 26-27.
