Courington Named Valley Golfer of Week After Record Performance

Missouri State's Jack Courington has been named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after a record-breaking performance last week in Dade City, Fla., at the South Florida Invitational.  The junior from Wichita, Kan., blistered Lake Jovita Country Club with a nine-under-par 63 in Sunday's (Mar. 7) final round to set a school and course record.  The previous MSU record of 65 was held by three players, the most recent being Todd Laney (2005).

Courington was tied for 53rd entering the final round, but moved up to sixth in the 120-player field, carding 73-76-63--212, four-under-par, and led the Bears to a tie for 13th of 23 teams.  His bogey-free round included two eagles and five birdies.  Courington has a 75.27 scoring average and is currently ranked fifth in the league's head-to-head standings.
