Golf Bears Finish 11th at Rice Intercollegiate
 

 

 

The Bears wrapped up their spring opener at the Rice Intercollegiate with a team score of 880 for an 11th place finish.

Will Hogan was the top MSU golfer with rounds of 76-71-68--215 to finish tied for ninth. Daily Young finished tied for 23rd with rounds of 74-71-74--219. Matt Cermak (83-72-71--226, T58), Eric Straub (78-75-75--228, T67) and Jack Courington (75-83-76--234, T75) also scored for the Bears in the par 72, 7,184-yard course.

New Mexico State was the eventual team champion and Aggies individual Gaston De La Torre finished atop the individual leaderboard with his three-round total of 9 under par.

Missouri State had a great third round, with most of the team improving their score from the second round. Hogan lead the Bears with a third round score of 68. Following him in order were Matt Cermak (71), Daily Young (74), Eric Straub (75) and Jack Courington (76).

Next up for the Bears is the USF Invitational on March 4-6 in Dade City, Fla. Tee time is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Central.
