Bears, Young Finish Second in Fall Finale

The Missouri State men's golf team finished second Tuesday (Oct. 25) in its final tournament of the fall season, the SIUE Intercollegiate by Doubletree in Edwardsville, Ill.
MSU junior Daily Young also finished second in the medalist race to cap an outstanding fall campaign. Young held a one-stroke lead entering the final round, but shot 76 to go with Monday's 73-69 to finish with a two-over-par 218, two shots behind champion David Lawrence of Eastern Illinois.
Young finished the fall ranked in the top five in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 72.00 scoring average, posted four top-five finishes and two individual titles in five tournaments.
As a team, the Bears carded 291-298-311--900 in three trips around Sunset Hills Country Club and finished seven shots behind first-place Southern Illinois Edwardsville. Evansville was third with 902, followed by Eastern Illinois (904), Southern Illinois (915), Wright State (918), North Dakota (938), Bradley (943), Nebraska-Omaha (960), South Dakota (961) and Chicago State (1094).
Senior Will Hogan placed second for MSU and tied for fourth overall by shooting 70-75-77--222. The Bears' Nick Langley took 15th, carding 73-77-78--228, while Jordan McLaurin tied for 26th with 75-77-81--233. Senior Mark Hogan posted 87-85-80--252 to finish 54th. Sophomore Eric Straub tied for eighth while playing as an individual, posting 74-74-76--224.
