Men's Golf Takes Lead With One Round Left in Chicago
Sept. 28, 2013
The Missouri State men's golf team will take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the John Dallio Memorial in suburban Chicago Sunday (Sept. 29).
The Bears opened up a seven-shot lead after the morning round Saturday, firing a one-under-par 287 before afternoon winds drove scores higher in the second round and they slipped to 310 for a 597 total. They still have a three-shot cushion, however, over IUPUI, which is at 600.
Wisconsin-Green Bay is third with 608, followed by host DePaul in fourth at 609, Northern Iowa (612), Valparaiso and Seton Hall (616), SIU Edwardsville (618), Loyola (621), Eastern Illinois (622) and Chicago State (658).
Sophomore Brik Brauburger led the way for MSU by shooting 71-76--147 in two trips around Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill. He's tied for third and just a shot out of the lead held by Dalton Charboneau of SIUE and Joe Harris of Valparaiso.
Final-round tee times start at 7:30 a.m. Sunday with the first Bear set to go at 8:24 a.m.
