Langley Leads Bears at D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate

NORMAL, Ill – The Missouri State men’s golf team wrapped up the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Monday, finishing in a tie for twelfth place with Illinois Wesleyan and Oral Roberts.
Junior Nick Langley finished tied for 19th in the six-school, 78-man field with rounds of 73-70-77. His individual 220 led all Missouri State golfers, and was only six strokes back of tournament co-champions Nick Willenborg of Loyola U.-Chicago, Seth Trolia of Bradley, and Nick Steffens of Western Illinois.
Senior Eric Straub and sophomore Mitch Mather both finished second for the Bears, tying for 48th overall. Straub shot 74-76-76—226 and Mather carded 78-70-78—226. Sophomore Joey Johnson tied for 66th at 75-79-77—231 and junior Mark Karlsen posted 81-72-79--232 and tied for 68th on the par 71, 6915-yard Illinois State University Course.
The Bears finished Monday with a 308 final round, to go along with 300 and 288 Sunday scores.
Loyola U.-Chicago finished one stroke ahead of Purdue at 868 to win the tournament. Closing out the top three was Illinois State at 870.
The rest of the field finished with Arkansas-Little Rock and Northern Iowa tying for 4th at 875, followed by Evansville (878), Arkansas State and Bradley (885), Western Illinois (886), SIU Edwardsville (887), Southern Illinois (894), MSU, Oral Roberts, and Illinois Wesleyan (896), and Butler (907).
The Bears will next compete at the John Dallio Memorial in Chicago on September 28-29.
