Fairway Club Invitational - Final Results
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Freshman Brik Brauburger led the way for the Missouri State men's golf team with a top-10 finish at the Fairway Club Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 11). Missouri State entered the final day at ArborLinks Golf Course six shots out of the lead and concluded the 54-hole tournament in fourth place. The Bears shot a three-round total of 908 (304-300-304) in their first competition of the 2012-13 season.
Brauburger made his collegiate debut on Monday with a 3-over-75 to begin the tournament and posted a 74 in the second round. The freshman from Bella Vista, Ark. showed consistency on Tuesday by recording another 2-over-74 to vault him into a tie for seventh.
Joey Johnson, a freshman from Ozark, Mo. also had a strong showing in his collegiate debut. The local standout carded 75-74-77--226, which was good for a two-tie for 17th.
Following Monday's 77-75--149, junior Nick Langley shot another 3-over-75 to improve six spots on the individual leaderboard and move into a tie for 15th.
Missouri State's other finishers included reigning Fairway Club Invitational champ Daily Young and Eric Straub. Young posted a 77-77-78--232 and tied for 27th in the field of 74. Straub shot an 80-84-81--245 to finish 67th.
Also making the trip to Nebraska City and playing as an individual was Mitch Mather. The freshman from Lebanon, Mo. carded a 5-over-77 in the first round, followed by two rounds of 79.
Finishing ahead of the Bears in the team race was Nebraska in first (899), Illinois State (900) and Oral Roberts (902).
Next up for the Missouri State men's golf team is the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate hosted by Illinois State in Normal, Ill., Sept. 22-23.
