NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - For the fifth year in-a-row, the Missouri State men's golf team opened its season at the Fairway Club Invitational. The Bears played 36 holes on Monday at the ArborLinks Golf Course in Nebraska City, Neb. and are currently tied for fourth entering the final round.

After recording a 304-300--604 on Monday, the Bears are just six shots out of the lead, which is currently held by the host institution, Nebraska-Lincoln (306-292--598). A pair of freshman highlighted the Bears' first day of action to keep Missouri State in contention for the team title.

MSU newcomers Joey Johnson and Brik Brauburger shot a matching 75-74--149 to put the duo in a tie for 12th place.

Also paving the way for MSU was junior Nick Langley and Daily Young. Langley posted a 77-75--152 and the Bears' third-best score of the day. He is currently in a tie for 21st overall.

Reigning Fairway Club Invitational individual champion Daily Young was fourth among Missouri State golfers with a two-round score of 154 (77-77). Last year, Young broke out a 5-under-67 to start the tournament and followed his record-setting first round with a 74-72 in the final 36 holes.

Redshirt-junior Eric Straub is tied for 66th after carding 80-84--164.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
