Johnson Leads Bears Again as Men's Golf Winds Up 11th in Louisiana

Freshman Joey Johnson led the way again for the Bears in a disappointing team finish.

Fall 2012: Ranked third on the team with a 76.40 scoring average while playing in all five tournaments...Grabbed his first collegiate top-10 finish at the UMKC Intercollegiate, tying for 10th overall and first for the Bears after posting 70-72-77--219...Shot 76-86-77--239 at the Colbert Intercollegiate to finish 21st...Tied for 15th in the season-opening Fairway Club Invitational with 77-75-75--227.

2011-12: Became a regular member of the Bears' top five, playing in 11 of the team's 12 tournaments and posting a 78.00 scoring mark in 33 rounds...Best finish of the fall was 15th at SIUE, where he shot 73-77-78--228...Also placed 15th at the Washington State Snowman Getaway in the spring with 74-77-71--222...Tied his career-best 54-hole score at Kansas, where he tied for 26th and carded 74-72-79--225...Shot 78-76-75--229 and placed 40th at the Weibring Intercollegiate and had 75-74-81--230 at UMKC to finish 36th...Played his best golf in the fall, averaging 76.80 compared to 79.00 for the spring.
