Chiles and Ingram Named to Valley Football All-Newcomer Team
 

 

 

Missouri State freshman standouts Jordan Chiles (P, Hillsboro, Ill.) and David Ingram (LB, Springdale, Ark.) were selected to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team the league announced today.

Chiles (5-11, 170, Hillsboro, Ill., Hillsboro High), a true freshman, averaged 39.7 yards per punt in conference games this season and 37.9 yards overall. He finished 13th in the nation in net punting and had 11 punts of 50 or more yards.  Chiles had 17 punts downed inside the 20-yard line, in addition to nine that were fair caught and two that went for touchbacks.  He was named the team's special teams player of the week once this season and was named Missouri State Coors Player of the Week (11/8/08) for his exceptional effort at Northern Iowa with 9 punts for 385 yards (42.8) and a long of 64 with two downed inside the 20.

Ingram (6-2, 205, Springdale, Ark., Shiloh Christian Academy) is a redshirt freshman who played in all 11 games for the Bears this year at linebacker, including one start. He posted team-high 15 tackles at Indiana State (11/22/08) and finished with six tackles at South Dakota State (11/1/08). For the season, he finished with 27 tackles, including 13 solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one pass break-up.

The Bears were 4-7 overall this season and 3-5 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the most conference wins by the program since 2004.
