Glaser Earns Valley Offensive Player of the Week
Nov. 10, 2013
ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State quarterback Ashton Glaser (Sr., Springdale, Ark.) has been named as Offensive Player of the Week by the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the league announced Sunday.
In Saturday's 37-27 win over Southern Illinois, Glaser completed 72 percent of his passes (21-of-29) and helped lead Missouri State to its first win in Carbondale since 2001. He finished with 310 passing yards, threw for two touchdowns with no interceptions and rushed for another score in the victory. He finished with 338 yards of total offense as part of the squad's biggest offensive output (510 yards) since 2007 and best road performance in conference play in the last 10 years.
Sparked by Glaser's efforts, the Bears improved to 5-2 in conference play -- the most conference victories by MSU since 1990 -- while winning their fourth game in a row. The senior who transferred from Missouri last season, improved to 4-0 as the Bears' starting quarterback this fall.
Glaser is the second Bear to earn Valley Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, joining Vernon Scott (Sr., RB, Muskogee, Okla.) who claimed the honor on Sept. 14 for his 201-yard rushing performance against Murray State. This season, the Bears have also earned MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week once -- Robert Booker (Sept. 14) -- and Defensive Player of the Week laurels twice -- Caleb Schaffitzel (Oct.19) and Jeremy Springer (Nov. 2).
In its Sunday release, the league also recognized North Dakota State linebacker Carlton Littlejohn as its Defensive Player of the Week, UNI kicker Tyler Sievertsen as Special Teams Player of the Week and UNI quarterback Brion Carnes as Newcomer of the Week.
