Head Coach Terry Allen
On the near-sack at the end of the game . . .
"I was like everyone else and thought we had it."
On not capitalizing on turnovers . . .
"We forced four turnovers in the first half and didn’t put any points on the board. You just can’t do that. (SIU) was a very good defensive team. Everybody’s gonna look at the numbers, but the defense played their tails off. The offense didn’t come play until the fourth quarter.
"I couldn’t be prouder of the team. The crowd here got into it in the fourth quarter and the players fed off of the intensity too."
"I've been a part of some good comebacks. I honestly can't remember ever losing a game like that. I was on the sideline, and we had a decent rush. We just had a couple guys there and they ran into each other."
On the defense:
"You could tell that our D came out to make plays. Sometimes the D picks up the Offense, and the Offense picks up the defense.
"It was a tough loss, but we'll come back next week just like we did in the fourth quarter today and like we did in the second half last week. Everybody was ready to go into overtime and get us a win."
On the final play
"I dropped back into coverage and tried to find a receiver. They had a Wide Receiver just decide to go deep and made a great play."
"There was a little fatigue that set in in the fourth quarter. You just have to step up and make plays and keep playing hard the whole game. You have to know that the guys next to you are players you can trust. Our offense is high octane, they're one of the best in the conference, we had confidence that they would come out and get the score."
"We handle adversity in every game we play. We always know when we're on the road it's going to be hard to win. We're just going to have to move on. I think we'll be able to put this one behind us and keep moving forward.
On the offense's final drive
"We knew that if we didn't respond, we wouldn't have a chance. We put some plays together, the offensive line held their blocks. I just wish we would have helped our defense out in the first half."
"It's all about execution. From top to bottom. The defense played their hearts out for 60 minutes, especially in the first half with four turnovers. We couldn't capitalize. It was a really strange game."
