Tampa Bay Acquires Former MSU Standout Richards
Sept. 19, 2013
TAMPA, Fla. -- Former Missouri State University standout Randy Richards (OL, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) was acquired by the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday (Sept. 19) and was immediately assigned to the team's practice squad.
Richards signed a free agent agreement with San Diego in April and narrowly missed making the Chargers' final roster cut. He will wear No. 64 for the Bucs.
"I'm happy for him to get an opportunity to continue his career in the NFL," said MSU offensive line coach Sean Coughlin. "He had a good training camp with San Diego, and I know Randy's excited to get an opportunity to continue playing football at the highest level."
According to the team's website, Buccaneers.com, Richards is one of eight players currently assigned to Tampa Bay's practice squad. He is one of two offensive linemen on the list, which includes four rookies.
The Bears return to action at Plaster Field this Saturday at 6 p.m., when they take on No. 13 Central Arkansas. Tickets are available by phone at (417) 836-7678, at the Chevy Pickup Window at JQH Arena, or on-line. Saturday is the team's annual Salute to America game, featuring ticket specials and special recognition for all armed service veterans and active duty personnel.
