Kirby Named Valley Football Offensive Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS -- The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced its weekly awards on Sunday (Sept. 12), and Missouri State quarterback Cody Kirby (Sr., Rogers, Ark.) was named Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bears' game at Kansas State.
In his 32nd consecutive start Saturday, Kirby collected a career-high 333 yards of total offense in helping the Bears accumulate their highest point total against an FBS program since 2002. The senior co-captain threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions against the FBS Wildcats, while rushing for a team-high 52 yards on 10 carries. It was his highest rushing output in 7 games and the third-highest passing total of his career.
In the 48-24 loss, he engineered scoring drives of 80, 58, 74, and 99 yards. The Bears collected 447 yards of total offense in the game, while committing just one turnover.
