SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University and University Plaza (333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway) will be hosting a Bears Football Fan Day celebration this Saturday (Aug. 23) from 1-2:30 p.m., in the Nebraska Room at University Plaza.
The free fan event will take place just three weeks prior to the team's home opener against North Dakota at the newly-renovated Robert W. Plaster Stadium on Sept. 13. The 6 p.m. contest will also usher in a new era for fan tailgating with the opening of the NEW BearFest Village, north of the stadium.
The Aug. 23 University Plaza event will feature free stadium-style snacks and soft drinks with appearances by the MSU spirit squads and mascots, Boomer and Growl. Bears' head coach Terry Allen and select players will also be in attendance to pose for photos, sign autographs and hand out schedule cards and posters.
Reservations are not required, and fans of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Fans who attend the fan celebration will have the opportunity to purchase season or single-game tickets, including an exclusive half-off bleacher ticket deal for the home opener with $5 seats.
Tickets for all MSU games are available at MissouriStateBears.com/tickets, by phone at (417) 836-7678 or at the MSU Athletics Box Office at JQH Arena during regular box office hours.
