Bears Football Training Camp Report
2013 Missouri State Bears Football Training Camp Report
Day 16, Saturday, Aug. 17
Recap: With one of the top defensive units in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, Missouri State closed out training camp Saturday afternoon with the club's second preseason scrimmage on a day dominated by the maroon-clad defenders for a majority of the 120 plays.
After Cedric Miller (So., Memphis, Tenn.) darted down the near sideline for a 58-yard gain on the fourth play of the morning, it looked like the offense was headed for a great start. But senior cornerback Howard Scarborough (Tulsa, Okla.) turned the tables on the next sequence when he snagged a Kierra Harris (Jr., Texarkana, Ark.) pass and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown

The Bears worked heavily on team drills again in the morning, in addition to 7-on-7, kickoff and punt cover, and field goal work. In team work, Zac Hoover (RFr., Grain Valley, Mo.) made a fantastic, acrobatic touchdown grab on a 40-yard strike from Ashton Glaser to highlight the offense’s efforts. The morning concluded in overcast, 72-degree conditions, which set the stage for an hour and 45-minute afternoon workout in 80-degree, sunny conditions. The afternoon again featured a lot of team drills in 11-on-11 situations as both units continued to put in plays and determine position depth. The Bears also worked on red zone and 7-on-7 drills. Highlighting the afternoon session was a 55-yard TD strike from Kierra Harris to Julian Burton as well as an athletic interception by Sybhrian Berry (see today's video for an interview with Sybhrian).
