Football Bears Begin Spring Drills March 27
March 26, 2012 SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State head football coach Terry Allen and his Bears officially begin spring practice Tuesday (March 27) at Plaster Field. The team will work out 15 times before concluding April 21 with the team’s annual Maroon & White Game. The Bears will conduct their first four workouts this week, scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, before a 9:30 a.m. controlled intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday. A complete list of spring workout dates is as follows:
Allen, who will begin his seventh season at the helm of the Bears, returns 36 lettermen and 60 total squad members from a 2011 squad that made a late-season surge to win its final two road games and two of its last four games overall.
Among the 24 returning players who saw time in the MSU starting lineup a year ago are All-MVFC honorable mention performers Trevor Wooden (Jr., QB, High Springs, Fla.) and Matt Thayer (Sr., TE, Bellevue, Neb.) as well 2011 MVFC All-Newcomer selections Andrew Beisel (So., ILB, Fenton, Mo.) and Mike Crutcher (So., S, Wentzville, Mo.). Missouri State will open its 2012 season on Sept. 1 at Kansas State before the team opens a five-game home slate on Sept. 15 against Murray State. |
