SPRINGFIELD -- In an ongoing effort by Missouri State student-athletes to actively participate in the University's statewide mission in public affairs, several Missouri State football players recently spent an afternoon volunteering at the Ozarks Food Harvest in Springfield.

On Friday, March 9, assistant coach Bob Montgomery and 12 players processed and organized donations at southwest Missouri's primary food bank which serves more than 300 non-profit organizations across 28 counties.

Players Adrian Williams, Vernon Scott, Ryan Callender, Richard Darden, Tevan Ferguson, Matt Swan, Mikael Cooper-Falls, Jamarius Smith, Jake Lasater, Andrew Beisel, Eric Pearce and Chris Sullens all took part in the afternoon community service efforts.

With their three hours of service, the Bears were able to feed 3,780 families and provide 6,389 meals.

The Bears will begin spring drills on March 26 which will culminate in the annual Maroon and White Spring Game on Saturday, April 21 at Plaster Field.
