At MSU: Jeremy Nicholson was the Bears' leading receiver in 2006 and enters his final season as the leader of a deep receiving unit. He led MSU in receptions, yards and touchdowns. His best game came at Illinois State with six catches for 105 yards and a TD. He had four catches for 94 yards in the season opener at Oklahoma State and four for 67 at Indiana State. His other TDs came vs. Western Kentucky, UNI and SW Baptist. Nicholson tied for third on the team in receptions as a sophomore. He caught a six-yard TD pass at Arkansas and a 10-yard scoring toss vs. Quincy. He had four receptions for 84 yards at SIU and four for 35 yards vs. Southeast Missouri. He had 10 receptions for 155 yards as a freshman. Nicholson averaged 4.6 minutes and 1.2 points in nine games with basketball Bears in 2004-05 after redshirting the previous year. Nicholson established a unique "first" 11/13/04, when he became the first student-athlete in Missouri State history to compete in two varsity sports the same day. He caught a pass vs. Youngstown State in football the afternoon and played two minutes and grabbed a rebound in a basketball exhibition vs. UMSL that night.Background: Nicholson was a three-sport standout at Ash Grove High, named first team all-state in football and basketball. He was all-district and all-Ozarks in both sports his last two years and was a four-year starter in baseball. Nicholson caught 72 passes for 1,235 yards as a senior. His football team went 19-4 his final two years and reached the state semifinals. Personal: Jeremy Dodd Nicholson was born 6/8/84 in Springfield, Mo., the son of Brian and Debbie Nicholson. Both Jeremy's father and his grandfather played basketball at MSU. Jeremy's major is physical education.
