At MSU: Tamarkus McElvane is just one of a deep stable of Bear receivers for 2007 and will be looking to build on a stellar first year at MSU. He ranked second on the squad a year ago in receiving yards and was third on the ballclub in receptions. McElvane played in all 11 games, starting eight, and returned eight kickoffs for a 21-yard average. He scored his only TD in the season-ending win over Western Illinois. After getting just one reception over the first three games of the 2006 season, he had at least one grab in each of the Bears' last eight ballgames. McElvane collected five catches for 89 yards at Indiana State and six for 62 yards against Southern Illinois. He also had three catches for 83 yards against Western Kentucky, three for 22 at Illinois State and three for 19 against Sam Houston State in other multiple-catch outings. McElvane was voted to the Gateway Football Conference All-Newcomer Team as a wide receiver and kick returner for the 2006 season.Background: McElvane transferred from Laney College, where his team won the Golden Gate Conference of the Northern California Football Association and finished with a 10-2 record.
