Bears Hold 36-21 Halftime Lead Over SBC Fave Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – Missouri State has a 36-21 halftime lead here over Arkansas State behind eight first-half points from Caleb Patterson and Michael Bizoukas, while the Bears have out-rebounded the Red Wolves by a 25-18 margin. The Bears have never trailed in the contest and hopped out to a 12-5 lead in the first five minutes after a three-pointer by Bizoukas in transition. Arkansas State, the Sun Belt West preseason favorites, climbed back within 20-16 at the 9:34 mark, the Bears responded with a 12-0 outburst over the next four minutes to regain a double-figure advantage, 32-16. MSU also got six points and four rebounds from Jarmar Gulley in the first stanza, while Kyle Weems, Keith Pickens and Isaiah Rhine have contributed four points apiece. The Bears have forced nine turnovers, while committing just four and shot 42.1 percent (16-for-38) from the field, with a pair of three-pointers and makes on both free throw attempts. Arkansas State was led by Trey Finn with 7 points. The Red Wolves are 7-for-27 (.259) from the field, 3-of-10 from long range and 4-of-8 at the foul line. The Bears are trying to add to an eight-game win streak against Arkansas State that dates back to 1989.
