SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State's two-game men's basketball preseason schedule will entertain fans at JQH Arena Oct. 27 and 29 as the Bears take on McKendree and Missouri Southern, respectively.

MSU's first exhibition game of the 2013-14 season is Sunday at 3:05 p.m., against visiting McKendree University.  The Bearcats and legendary head coach Harry Statham - the winningest coach in college basketball history - are coming off a 101-66 exhibition loss at Illinois on Thursday night.  In that game, the Bearcats were led by senior Clinton Happe with 15 points, while newcomer Jeremy Price added 12 points and 3 assists.

The Bears will continue exhibition play on Tuesday night against regional foe Missouri Southern State University at 7:35 p.m.  For Coach Robert Corn's Lions, Tuesday's contest will mark the exhibition opener. MSSU was picked sixth (out of 14 teams) in the MIAA preseason coaches poll. Southern returns its entire team from a season ago, including senior All-MIAA performers Marquis Addison and Jordan Talbert.

The Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll and all-conference teams will be announced at the league's media day in Chicago on Oct. 30.  Coach Paul Lusk returns nine lettermen and five players with significant starting experience, including 2013 MVC Freshman of the Year Marcus Marshall.

Tickets for both exhibition games - as well as all regular-season games - are available on-line at, or during regular box office hours by phone at (417) 836-7678 or at the Chevy Pickup Window at JQH Arena.  Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, in addition to gameday hours this Sunday.
