NCAA Ruling Creates Schedule Shift for Hoops for Hope Event

Oct. 11, 2012

O’FALLON, Mo. -- Basketball organizers Plan BC3, LLC, has announced changes to the lineup of its 2012 Hoops for Hope Classic. The change was necessitated by an NCAA rule interpretation that precludes Alcorn State from participating in this year's tournament.

Due to this decision, Malone University – an NCAA Division II school from Canton, Ohio -- has been added to the tournament and will be playing at Southern Methodist University on Nov. 19 at Missouri State on Nov. 21 at JQH Arena.

"I know the tournament organizers were as shocked as we were to hear this development," said MSU Director of Athletics Kyle Moats. "It's still a great event for us, and it doesn't change the format of the championship bracket in Puerto Vallarta."

Moats noted that because of the change to a non-Division I opponent for the home game at JQH Arena on Nov. 21, all season ticket holders -- including those who purchase season tickets between now and the start of the season -- will receive a ticket voucher for an additional game this season. The vouchers will be good for an equal or lesser seating section to the ticket holder's season ticket section. A season ticket holder with four season tickets, for instance, will receive four vouchers for any game this season, based on availability.

The Missouri Valley Conference is the official sponsor of the 2012 Hoops for Hope Classic. All proceeds for the event are used to help raise awareness, support and research of the National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation to “Cure UCD”.
