Great Alaska Shootout Bracket

-- A piece of Missouri State’s 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule moved into place Thursday (July 10) with the unveiling of the pairings for the 2014 GCI Great Alaska Shootout. Hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage, this year’s Shootout is scheduled for Nov. 26-29 inside UAA’s brand-new, 5,000-seat Alaska Airlines Center, with seven games slated for national television on CBS Sports Network.

The Bears begin play in the 37th annual Shootout at 1 a.m. Central on Nov. 27 against Colorado State, with Pacific and the host Seawolves on their side of the bracket. Rice, Mercer, Washington State and UC Santa Barbara make up the other half of the tournament field, with semifinal games in the winner’s and consolation brackets set for Nov. 28 and the concluding four games on Nov. 29.

CBS Sports Network will air live all four first-round games of the longest-running regular-season college basketball tournament in the nation, with tape delay broadcasts of the semifinal contests before a live telecast of the championship game at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.

The Bears and Coach Paul Lusk manufactured one of the best turnarounds in the Division I ranks this season as MSU jumped from last year’s 11-22 ledger to a 20-13 mark in 2013-14. Missouri State will return four starters and seven lettermen from a team that tied for fourth in a competitive Missouri Valley Conference race and earned a berth in the 2014 Postseason Tournament. A trio of talented high school recruits and a pair of highly touted juco transfers will also join the fold this season.

Missouri State is expected to finalize the remainder of its non-conference schedule in the coming weeks.
