SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University men's basketball coach Paul Lusk announced today (April 29) that the University has entered into a financial aid agreement with Emmanuel Addo (ah-DUE), a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward/center who will transfer from Northern Colorado.

Addo will complete his undergraduate work at UNC this semester and be eligible during the 2013-14 season for his senior year at Missouri State.

"We're excited to have Emmanuel join our program," said Lusk. "He provides an experienced post presence who can score inside and out. He's a great student, and will be make a great addition to our team."

Addo played in 30 of 31 games for coach B.J. Hill this season, posting four double-figure scoring games, including a 10-point effort at Wichita State on Dec. 8. He averaged 15.1 minutes, 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds as a junior. His best season at UNC came during his sophomore campaign in 2011-12 when he posted 9.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per night while knocking down 16 3-pointers and making 75.3 percent of his free throws. He also averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds as a freshman for the Bears.

He has scored 613 points during his 89-game college career and has made 50.3 percent of his field goal attempts, 70 percent of his free throws and 42.7 percent of his 3-point shots.

The lefty was born in Toronto and raised in Ghana, Africa. He attended high school at Northfield (Minn.) High with an American host family before spending four years at Northern Colorado.

Lusk, who is entering his third season as the head coach at Missouri State, has had previous success adding a fifth-year transfer. Michael Bizoukas, a point guard who transfered from DePaul, in 2011-12, Lusk's first year at MSU. Bizoukas led the Missouri Valley Conference in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio during that key transitional season.

"Mike Bizoukas came here and had great success as a fifth-year guy," said Lusk. "We feel that formula works to help fill an immediate need, and we feel Emmanuel will have similar success like Mike did."

Addo is the fifth addition to the Missouri State roster for the upcoming season. He joins fellow spring commitment Ron Mvouika (6-5, 200, Jr., SG, Paris, France, Huntington [W.Va.] Prep, Sheridan [Wyo.] College as well as early high school commitments: Tyler McCullough (6-10, 230, Fr., C, Fayetteville, Ark., Fayetteville High); Austin Ruder (6-3, 185, Fr., SG, Nixa, Mo., Nixa High); and Devon Thomas (5-11, 170, Fr., PG, Baltimore, Md., Kimball Union Academy).
