KANSAS CITY – Missouri State standout Jarmar Gulley (Sr., F, Beaumont, Texas) was recognized today (March 12) as an All-District 16 second team selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The NABC Division I All-District teams recognize 252 student-athletes from 25 districts as the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes, as selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.

With 17 double-figure scoring efforts in 18 Missouri Valley Conference games, Gulley finished tied for second in the league in double-doubles (6) and currently ranks 9th in the Valley in scoring (14.4), 4th in rebounds (6.3) and 5th in steals (1.6). His senior campaign was also highlighted by an impressive run of 16 straight double-figure scoring games.

He was named to the All-MVC second team in 2014 and earned MVC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 13. Gulley was also named to the Corpus Christi Challenge All-Tournament Team and registered 16.3 points and 7.1 boards per night in conference games.

Joining Gulley on the NABC District 16 team are first-team selections Cleanthony Early, Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet of Wichita State, Jake Odum of Indiana State and Seth Tuttle of UNI. Fellow second-team picks are Evansville’s D.J. Balentine, Desmar Jackson and Anthony Beane of Southern Illinois and Walt Lemon, Jr. of Bradley.

Gulley and the Bears will learn their postseason fate in the coming days after Missouri State finished the regular season with a 20-12 record. MSU finished tied for fourth (9-9) in the MVC regular-season standings and advanced to the semifinals of the MVC Tournament last weekend in St. Louis.
