At Missouri State

Kyle Rausch shifted from football to basketball in his second year at Missouri State and plans to stay with the hardwood sport after electing not to continue with his career with the football Bears. Rausch was a wide receiver on the Bears' football team for two seasons, redshirting in 2004 and getting into three Missouri State games in 2005. He joined the basketball team last winter after the close of the football campaign and got into 10 games for the Bears last winter. With an offseason to concentrate on basketball, he has a chance to get ready and be able to give the Bears a spark for the next three seasons.

Rausch got into 10 games last season and played a total of 22 minutes. He tallied a free throw in the home win over Drake and two in the win over Evansville for his only points. He blocked two shots in his first outing, the Price Cutter Classic semifinal game win over Georgia Southern, and hauled down two of his three rebounds in the home win vs. Arkansas State.

Rausch was a three-year starter and standout for Blue Springs South on the hardwood, playing on teams which finished 13-13 two of his three seasons for coach Jimmy Cain. Rausch helped the Blue Springs South football team to an 8-2 season record and a number two state ranking in Missouri at the end of his senior season as a wide receiver. He was named first team all-area, all-district, all-metro in Kansas City and all-conference as a senior. He received second team all-state recognition. Rausch caught nine touchdown passes as a senior to set a Suburban Big 8 Conference record. His junior year, his team was ranked fourth in the state at the end of the campaign and Rausch was all-conference, all-area and all-district. He holds the school record for longest touchdown catch, an 83-yarder.

Kyle Anthony Rausch was born September 4, 1985, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Kent and Melissa Rausch. Kyle's great-grandmother attended MSU more than 80 years ago. Kyle's academic major is undecided.
