At Missouri State

Kyle Kirk committed to the basketball Bears in the fall of 2005 and is joined by Ryan Jehle to comprise this year's freshman recruit crop for Missouri State. Kirk becomes the fourth member of this year's Missouri State roster from Springfield Kickapoo High, joining former Chiefs Spencer Laurie, Deven Mitchell and Shane Laurie with coach Barry Hinson's ballclub. Kirk will bid for a spot in the frontcourt for the Bears.


Kirk was a three-year start for the Kickapoo Chiefs of coach Roy Green after Kyle's family moved to Springfield at the start of his sophomore year. He played his freshman season on the varsity at Fort Zumwalt West High in St. Charles, Mo., where Coach Ron Twitchell's club posted the best record in school history at 24-3 and claimed a conference title. Kirk averaged 14.5 points and eight rebounds a game to get all-conference, all-district and St. Louis all-metro honors. At Kickapoo as a sophomore, Kirk averaged 13.3 points and seven rebounds a game to win all-conference and all-district laurels as KHS won league and district championships in a 24-6 season.Kirk hiked his numbers to 15.6 points and six rebounds a game as a junior. KHS won the Ozark Conference and district titles and finished third in the state. Kirk repeated his conference and district laurels and gained all-state selection from both the state's coaches' organization and the state sportswriters and sportscaster. He was also on the all-tourney team at the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions as KHS won the team title. As a senior for the Chiefs, he led KHS to a 27-6 record and a state runner-up finish, repeating all his honors as he averaged 18.0 points a game. He finished his career with a KHS record 1,431 points and his four high school teams, counting his freshman season at Fort Zumwalt West, combined for a 104-16 record and a spotless 40-0 mark with four titles in conference play.


Kyle Joseph Kirk was born April 18, 1987, in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents are Joseph and Karen Kirk. Sister Hannah was a four-year Missouri State cager, completing her career with the Lady Bears in 2006. Kyle's academic major at Missouri State is undecided.
