Basketball Bears Add Walk-On Carmichael to 2012-13 Roster

Former Aurora Standout Joins Basketball Bears

Earned the attention of Coach Lusk and his staff during fall walk-on tryouts and then officially joined the club in late October. He is a highly-touted shooting guard who has been out of organized basketball for two years after playing his freshman year at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. Has been a Missouri State student the last three semesters.

William Jewell: Played in 19 games and earned four starts as a true freshman for Coach Larry Holly's Cardinals in 2009-10 ... Averaged 2.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game while knocking down five 3-pointers ... Also tallied 11 assists and 8 steals ... Team was 22-11 overall and finished third in conference play before winning the GLVC Tournament to earn an NAIA National Tournament bid ... Cardinals were also 12-2 at home ... Best outing was 11 points ... Posted team's best grade-point average.

High School: Three-year starter and four-year letterman at Aurora (Mo.) High ... Was a first-team all-state shooting guard for Coach Darin Meinders as a senior in 2008-09 and averaged 22.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per outing ... The Houn Dawgs finished 27-2 and advanced to the Missouri Class 4 quarterfinals ... Defeated Webb City in the sectional playoffs ... Carmichael helped Aurora to a 20-game winning streak as a senior as well as conference and district titles and two regular-season tournament championships ... Scored 1,289 career points, including a career-high 39-point effort his senior year ... The 2009 Big 8 Conference Player of the Year also earned academic all-state, all-area, all-district and all-conference honors while being named the Southwest Missouri Class 4 Player of the Year ...
