Bears release baseball schedule for 2007



The 2007 Missouri State baseball schedule has been completed and includes a total of 56 games as the Bears move into their fourth season at Hammons Field. The schedule features 26 home dates and 30 road games, as well as 17 games against teams that qualified for the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Missouri State will also host the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship.

The Bears will have weekend home series against Middle Tennessee State (March 2-4) and South Dakota State (March 16-18), as well as three-game series against Missouri Valley Conference foes Northern Iowa (March 23-25), Bradley (April 6-8), Wichita State (April 20-22) and Indiana State (May 11-13). The 2007 schedule also includes a home-and-home series with NCAA Tournament teams Missouri, Arkansas, Saint Louis, Oral Roberts and Kansas.

Missouri State makes a trip to Minnesota (March 9-11) and will play the Golden Gophers in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

The Bears will begin the season at their only regular season tournament, the DBU Tournament where they will face Texas-Arlington, Texas-San Antonio, Gonzaga and host Dallas Baptist, February 22-25. MSU will also play a two-game set at DBU April 13-14.

The Bears will conclude the season on the road with a three-game series against Creighton before returning home to host the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship, May 23-26.

The 2007 season will be the Bears’ 25th year in Division I and also the 25th season for Bears’ head coach Keith Guttin, who enters the year with a 841-502 career record. It’s the 17th season for Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears were 33-22 last season and finished second in the Valley with a 15-8 league record.
