Baseball Bears Announce 2012 Fall Schedule
Sept. 19, 2012
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State University has finalized its 2012 fall baseball schedule, which includes as many as nine dates in October in addition to next Saturday's "Battle For Bell" benefit contest against Drury University at Hammons Field.
The Bears will open the fall slate with the "Battle For Bell," a nine-inning exhibition contest against Drury on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit former MSU shortstop and Glendale High School head coach Howard Bell in his fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Missouri State baseball fans can catch glimpses of the 2013 squad throughout the month of October, beginning Monday, Oct. 1, with a 3 p.m., exhibition contest against the Ontario Blue Jays, a Canadian high school select team, at Hammons Field.
The Bears will then kick off their annual intrasquad fall world series on Thursday, Oct. 4, at Hammons. Additional games will follow on Oct. 5, Oct. 10, Oct. 11, Oct. 17, Oct. 18, Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 (if necessary). With the exception of the Oct. 18 contest, which is scheduled for a 10 a.m. first pitch, games will begin at 3 p.m.
With the exception of the "Battle For Bell" game, admission to Missouri State's fall contests is free and open to the public.
Tickets for the "Battle For Bell" are now available at select Springfield-area Price Cutter locations, as well as the ticket window in the O'Reilly Family Event Center box office on the Drury campus. All seats will be sold on a first-come, first-served general admission basis, with advance tickets selling for $5. Tickets will also be available on the day of the game for $10 at the Hammons Field box office. All proceeds will go to the Help Coach Bell Strike Out ALS Fund.
