SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State head coach Keith Guttin announced the receipt of official commitments from local prep standout Landan Ruff (Springfield, Mo.) and junior college transfer Adam Anawalt (San Clemente, Calif.) of Grossmont (Calif.) College on Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA's regular signing period.

Anawalt will join the Bears after pitching for Grossmont College in El Cajon, Calif., this spring. The San Clemente, Calif., product is currently 6-3 with a 2.04 earned run average and four complete games for the Griffins after posting a 2-2 mound record in 10 appearances for San Diego State University as a freshman in 2012. A right-hander, Anawalt was named Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week in March after tossing a complete-game one-hitter against Southwestern. As a prep, Anawalt led his San Clemente High School team to the California Interscholastic Federation quarterfinals as a junior and senior, picking up All-South Coast League honors in 2010 after going 6-3 with a 1.92 ERA and one save for the Tritons.

Ruff is expected to join former Springfield Parkview High School teammate Spencer Johnson on the Bears' roster next fall after completing a standout prep career as an outfielder for the Vikings. A two-sport athlete and National Honor Student, Ruff was an honorable mention All-Ozark Conference choice as a junior in 2012 after helping PHS to its first conference title in baseball since 1969. He also quarterbacked Parkview's varsity football squad to an 8-3 season last fall, earning all-conference and all-district recognition, as well as MFCA Academic All-State honors for the second straight year.

The two additions to MSU's recruiting class will give the Bears seven newcomers on their fall roster. The Bears received pledges from four high school standouts and one transfer, including infielders Drew Bridges (Carthage, Mo.), Trey Hair (Firth, Neb.) and David Masters (Lake St. Louis, Mo.), as well as pitcher Jordan Knutson (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and utility player Alex Jefferson (Normal, Ill.) during the NCAA's early signing period in November.

Missouri State (21-11, 6-3 MVC) will open a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Bradley Friday (April 19) at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to this weekend's series are available through the Chevy Pickup Window at JQH Arena, or by calling (417) 836-7678 or (417) 836-3302.
