Aaron Conway Named MVC Baseball Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State senior center fielder Aaron Conway is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Conway led the Bears to a 4-0 record and extended his hitting streak to 11 games by batting .650 (13-for-20) with five doubles, seven runs scored, three RBIs and three stolen bases. The senior slugged .900, reached base 14 times in 21 plate appearances, and had at least two hits in each game while generating nearly as many runs (10) as MSU’s opponents scored (14) in the four contests.
A native of Edwardsville, Ill., Conway started the week by going 3-for-5 with a run scored in the Bears’ 3-2 win at Oklahoma State, then reached base three times and scored twice, including the tying run in the ninth inning, Friday vs. North Dakota.
On Saturday and Sunday, Conway posted consecutive four-hit games to match a career high, going 8-for-10 with four doubles, four runs and three RBIs while raising his average to .460 on the season as the Bears beat UND twice more.
Conway and the Bears open a five-game road trip Tuesday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Arkansas State.
