SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Two of the Missouri Valley Conference's top teams will square off under a national spotlight, as Missouri State's series opener against league favorite Wichita State on Friday, March 21 has been selected for broadcast on ESPNU as part of ESPN's 2014 college baseball schedule. The Bears, who were tabbed second in the MVC's preseason poll, will take on the Shockers in a 5:30 p.m. (Central) contest at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan., to open a three-game series that figures to play a key role in shaping the 2014 Valley race.

ESPN's 2014 college baseball schedule will include more than 200 exclusive regular-season and conference championship games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3 and ESPNEWS, breaking the previous record of 151 matchups set last season. ESPN platforms will also present exclusive coverage of the NCAA Division I College Baseball Championship, including the selection of the 64-team field, at the conclusion of the conference tournaments.

Every game on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members, on Apple TV and Roku to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

As part of its agreement with the Missouri Valley Conference, ESPN produces eight live events on ESPNU with six of those telecasts pre-determined as men's basketball games.

The Bears' national appearance on ESPNU is one of at least four Missouri State baseball contests slated to be televised in 2014. Mediacom (MC-22) is scheduled to broadcast three MSU home games this spring, including April 15 vs. Missouri, April 29 against Arkansas and May 15 vs. Evansville, with Don West and Mike McClure set to describe the action. Additionally, Mediacom will carry two Missouri State softball games this season, with home games against Indiana State on April 13 and Wichita State on April 22 rounding out the spring broadcast schedule.

The Bears, who will welcome back 21 letterwinners from last year's squad that secured the program's third-consecutive 30-win season, begin the 2014 campaign with a three-game series against the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark., beginning with a 3 p.m. contest Friday, Feb. 14.
