Bears First Pitch Night Scheduled For February 11
Jan. 6, 2012
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State baseball will host the fourth annual Bears First Pitch and Reunion Night on Saturday, February 11, to kick off the 2012 season, head coach Keith Guttin announced Friday. The event will take place at the Bill Rowe Indoor Training Facility at Hammons Field at 5 p.m., with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Care to Learn.
The 2012 Bears will be on hand to sign autographs and distribute schedule cards. Current and former Missouri State major leaguers, as well as several current minor leaguers, will be in attendance to sign autographs and take part in a short program featuring the voice of the Bears, Art Hains. Missouri State's 1982 NCAA Division II College World Series team will also be recognized.
A special live auction featuring sporting and non-sporting memorabilia along with other giveaways will also highlight the festivities. A menu of ballpark food and soft drinks will be provided.
Care to Learn is a local organization dedicated to supporting children's needs in the areas of health, hunger and hygiene. Founded on the belief that no child should suffer physically or emotionally due to lack of food, access to medical, dental or mental health care, or hygiene issues, Care to Learn sponsors chapters in communities throughout the Ozarks and has fulfilled over 69,000 emergent requests for assistance from local youths since its inception in 2007.
Tickets for the event are on sale now for $20 each and must be purchased in advance prior to February 4. Last year's event sold out, so purchase well in advance of the deadline is recommended. Ticket orders can be mailed to Bears First Pitch, 211 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO 65806. Please include a mailing address for shipment or indicate your preference to pick up tickets at the door on the night of the event. Payment will be accepted by cash or check made payable to Bears First Pitch.
