2012: Smith appeared in 18 games, including six starts, as a sophomore, hitting .227 with three runs batted in...Batted .286 (2-for-7) in MVC play...Started at first base in the Bears' 4-2 win at Texas Tech (Feb. 19), going 0-for-2 with seven putouts in the field...Registered his first hit as a Bear with a two-out, ninth-inning, pinch-hit double that drove in MSU's lone run in a 3-1 setback to SIU Edwardsville (March 10)...Drove in a run in his second-straight game March 13, vs. Purdue...Recorded a career-high two hits in the Bears' 5-0 win over ORU (March 17)...Logged his first game-winning RBI as a Bear with an RBI double against Creighton (March 23) in MSU's 3-0 victory...Broke up Evansville's no-hit bid with a lead-off, pinch-single in the ninth inning of a 1-0 loss (May 13)...Clubbed a pair of homers and drove in 11 runs in 25 games with the Joplin Outlaws of the MINK League over the summer.
