At Missouri State: A junior who will be playing his second season of baseball at MSU after quarterbacking the Bears' football team in 2005, Scott Carroll will again be a weekend starter after making 14 starts and throwing 82 innings last season. He had a record of 6-4 and a 3.73 ERA in his first Bears' baseball season.

2006: Carroll completed his first season in the Bears' weekend rotation with a 6-4 record and a 3.73 ERA ... Tied with Ross Detwiler for the team lead with 14 starts ... Allowed just 79 hits in 82 innings while striking out 65 batters, good for third on the staff ... Threw a seven-inning complete game against Toledo, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out seven Rockets ... Struck out at least two batters in every game and averaged 7.13 Ks per nine innings ... Won his final three decisions of the season beating Bradley (4/30), Illinois State (5/12) and Southern Illinois (5/24) ... Punched out a season-high eight batters at UNI (4/8) ... Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning versus Creighton (5/5) and gave up a run and two hits before taking a no decision after seven innings ... Went at least five innings in all but three starts ... Named the MVC Pitcher of the Week twice (2/27, 3/13) ... Drafted in the 16th round by the Angels in 2006.

Background: Carroll transferred to Missouri State after spending one year at Purdue ... Carroll was selected to the all-state baseball team as a senior at Liberty (Mo.) High ... He posted a 10-0 record and a 1.17 ERA with 105 strikeouts in 72 innings in his final season ... Carroll was one of the top-rated quarterbacks in Missouri in high school as well ... His senior year he was named to the all-state, all-metro, all-district and all-conference teams after passing for 1,802 yards and 20 touchdowns ... In 2005 with the Bears' football team, he passed for 1,394 yards and nine TDs.

Personal: Born September 24, 1984, in Kansas City, Mo., Scott Alexander Carroll is the youngest son of Stephen and Linda Carroll ... He has two brothers, Mike and Jeff ... Carroll's father played baseball at Rockhurst, while brother Mike played football at Kansas State ... Scott is a communications major.
