2012: Schumacher made a school-record 17 starts in his first year as a Bear, ranking 16th nationally, while posting an 8-1 record and a 3.71 earned run average to earn All-MVC Honorable Mention...His 96 strikeouts (10th) and 99.1 innings pitched (8th) both rank among the Bears' all-time single-season leaders...Won his first seven decisions as a Bear, Feb. 24-May 5...Ranked in the top 10 in the MVC in wins (2nd), starts (2nd), strikeouts (5th) and innings pitched (8th)...MSU won 14 of his 17 starts...Completed at least 6.0 innings in each of his last seven starts...Worked just 3.1 IP in his Missouri State debut, Feb. 18, vs. Tennessee Tech, allowing six earned runs on eight hits while fanning four batters...Bounced back with a 6.1-inning outing to notch his first win as a Bear Feb. 24, in an 8-3 win over Stephen F. Background: Schumacher came to Missouri State by way of Johnson County Community College, where he was named JCCC's Male Athlete of the Year in 2011 after racking up 10 victories--the third-highest single-season total in school history--and posting an ERA of 1.70...Struck out 80 batters over 82.1 innings to finish his career with a program record 136 punchouts...His 17 career wins rank second all-time at JCCC...Went 7-1 with 56 strikeouts in 51 innings as a freshman in 2010, helping JCCC to a conference title and 44-14 record...In high school, Schumacher's Hayden High team won a Kansas Class 4A state title his senior season, as he went 5-1 with a 1.40 ERA on the mound and batted .418 with 18 RBIs as an all-state, all-league and all-city performer...Was first-team all-league and all-city as a junior, and a second-team all-league pick after his sophomore season, as Hayden finished third in the state tournament both seasons.
