2012: Petree led the Bears' record-setting pitching staff with one of the top individual seasons in school history...Became first Bear to be named national player of the year, earning Louisville Slugger National Player of the Year recognition from Collegiate Baseball after going 10-4 with the best earned run average in Division I baseball (1.01), which was good for second on the Bears' all-time single-season chart...His 10 wins rank fourth in school history, while his 114 strikeouts represent the third-best total at MSU; also ranks third in innings pitched (115.1) and second in starts (16)...Led the nation in ERA and ranked 16th in strikeouts and 22nd in victories...Led the MVC in victories and rated third in strikeouts...His two-year total of 19 victories matched Brad Ziegler's school record for wins over a two-year period...Named First-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and Baseball America and second-team All-America by ABCA and Perfect Game...Was an NCBWA Dick Howser Trophy and USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist and District VII Player of the Year (NCBWA) and All-Midwest Region (ABCA) and became the fifth MSU hurler to pick up MVC Pitcher of the Year honors...Allowed just one earned run on seven hits over 7.0 innings in the season opener, a 3-2 loss to Tennessee Tech (Feb. 17)...Won his first game of the year Feb. 24, scattering 10 hits over 7.0 innings of a 5-4 victory...Gave up just one earned run over 7.0 innings at Northwestern State (March 2), fanning five while allowing just three hits in an 8-3 MSU win...Won his third-straight outing March 9, holding SIU Edwardsville to two hits over 6.0 innings as part of a combined shutout with Zach Merciez...Notched his fourth-straight victory March 17 and his second-consecutive combined shutout, beating ORU, 5-0; allowed just six hits and fanned a season-high nine hitters to run his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 14.0...Named MVC Pitcher of the Week, March 19, April 30 and May 7...Tossed the first complete-game shutout of his MSU career March 24 vs. Creighton; gave up just four hits while striking out a season-high 10 hitters in the 7-0 victory...Extended his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 26.0 before allowing a single unearned run in MSU's 8-4 win at Dallas Baptist (March 31) to earn his sixth-straight victory...Earned national pitcher of the week honors from Collegiate Baseball (May 7)...Stretched his string of consecutive scoreless innings to a school-record and Division I-season-high 38.1 (April 6-May 17); also extended his string of innings without giving up an earned run to 73.0 straight frames...Worked 8.0 innings of the Bears' MVC Tournament loss to Bradley (May 22), allowing just one earned run while striking out seven...Finished his year with eight innings vs. UCF in the Bears' NCAA Regional opener in Coral Gables, Fla. (June 1), surrendering two runs on six hits in a 2-1 setback.

2011: Petree was tabbed MVC Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-league selection...Freshman All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA...Missouri State Pitcher and Rookie of the Year as voted on by his teammates...Pitched 96 innings in 11 starts and five relief appearances, going 9-2 with a 2.81 ERA, 81 strikeouts and two saves...Took over the Friday night starting role March 25 at Oral Roberts, made his first start March 16 versus SEMO, and pitched at least six innings in all 11 starts, allowing three or fewer earned runs in 10 of those...Tossed at least seven innings in 10 starts and eight innings five times...Win and inning totals set MSU freshman records, while strikeout total ranked third...First MSU freshman and 10th pitcher overall to begin a season 6-0...Inning total ranked sixth in MSU history for a season while win total ranked seventh...Finished fourth in the MVC in wins and strikeouts looking and sixth in innings pitched and total strikeouts...Debuted with seven strikeouts and one run in six innings at Texas State (Feb. 19) for a relief win...Had an 11-inning scoreless streak spanning his first three appearances, including the win over Texas State and saves against Texas-Arlington (Feb. 26) and Oklahoma State (March 1)...Struck out a season-high 11 batters in a win over Wichita State (April 8)...Held opponents to a .236 average overall and .212 with runners on base...Went 3-0 with a 1.97 ERA and .188 average in 32 innings at Hammons Field...Went 5-2 with a 2.94 ERA and two complete games in MVC play...Rated by Perfect Game and Baseball America as the MINK League's top prospect after going 3-0 with a 0.27 ERA for the Sedalia Bombers...Fanned 33 batters against four walks while allowing 19 hits and one earned run in 26 innings over teh summer.

2010: Sat out the 2010 season as a redshirt while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Background: Petree was a four-year starter at Clinton (Mo.) High, completing his career with a 22-6 record, 1.56 ERA and 278 strikeouts in 179 innings...Earned first-team all-state, all-district and all-conference honors as a senior, going 8-1 with a 0.70 ERA and 120 strikeouts...Was first-team all-conference and all-district as a pitcher and was named the MVP at the CABA World Series as a junior...Was an all-conference and all-district pitcher as a sophomore, helping the Cardinals to a third-place state finish.
