2013: After injuries decimated Missouri State's weekend rotation, Harris showed the poise of a veteran as the Bears' No. 2 starter, becoming the first hurler in school history to win his first eight starts...Earned Freshman All-America recognition from Collegiate Baseball, marking the third consecutive season at least one MSU rookie has earned the same honor...Tied fellow Bear Nick Petree for second place on the Missouri Valley Conference's wins list (8), which also rated as the second-highest victory total for an MSU freshman in the 50-year history of the program...Fanned 61 batters in 76.2 innings pitched, good for seventh on the Bears rookie strikeout list...Posted nine quality starts for the year, including each of his first six appearances of the year (Feb. 22-April 7) and eight of his first nine collegiate starts altogether...Held the opposition without an earned run for 17.0 straight innings to begin MSU career (Feb. 22-March 9), picking up his first victory with 6.0 innings of two-hit ball against Alcorn State (Feb. 22), followed by six shutout frames and eight strikeouts in a win over Northwestern State (March 3)...Struck out a season and career-best 10 batters vs. Northwestern (March 9) to improve to 3-0 with the Bears' 7-5 victory...Held Indiana State (March 30) without an earned run over 8.0 innings, allowing just four hits...Knocked off regular-season MVC champ Illinois State (April 7) with 7 2/3 strong innings, then improved to 7-0 with 6 1/3 innings at Southern Illinois (April 13) to help clinch the Bears' MVC series victory over the Salukis...Defeated Bradley (April 20) by allowing just a pair of unearned runs on three hits over 7.0 innings to log his eighth win, before holding Evansville to one run on four hits the following weekend in a no-decision...Helped the Bears topple Creighton (May 17) with 6.1 innings, over which he permitted just two runs (one earned) on four hits...Pitched for Walla Walla over the summer, appearing in 11 games and finishing with 30 strikeouts over 42 innings of work to earn the No. 26 spot on Perfect Game's list of top West Coast League prospects.

Background: Harris was a 33rd-round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2012 MLB Draft after posting a 5-3 record and 2.77 ERA for Hazelwood Central as a senior, fanning 69 hitters over 43 innings...Went 5-4 with a 3.67 ERA during a junior campaign that saw him strike out 60 hitters in 55.1 innings of work, complete three starts and post a pair of saves...That effort came on the heels of an impressive sophomore season, in which he was a perfect 8-0 to lead the Suburban North Conference in victories and earn the league's player of the year honor...Posted a 2.49 ERA and two shutouts while striking out 48 batters in 45 innings to lead the Hawks to a district title and state tournament appearance...Also excelled at the plate, batting .475 as a sophomore...Competed in football for the Hawks as well, earning Suburban North Conference Special Teams Player of the Year recognition as a senior.
