At Missouri State: The most experienced backstop on the team, Clay Coulter returns for his senior season to provide power to the middle of the lineup. The senior led Missouri State in home runs and batting average his first year on campus.

2006: Took over the catching duties midway through the season, hitting .380 with seven homers and 25 RBIs in 92 at bats ... Slugged .685 and had a .477 on-base percentage ... Was the second team all-conference catcher ... Was named to the MVC Tournament all-tourney team after hitting .444 with two homers and eight RBIs in five games ... Finished the season with eight multiple-RBI games, including three-RBI outings against Creighton (5/7), Southern Illinois (5/24) and Bradley (5/26) ... Had a .992 fielding percentage ... Had a career-high three base hits against Indiana State (5/20) and finished the year with 11 multi-hit games.

Background: Coulter joined Missouri State after a year at Grossmont (Calif.) Community College, in which he was named to the PCC All-Conference First Team as a DH ... In 2005, Coulter played in 31 games, had 38 hits and hit .328 ... Clay hit five home runs and struck out only nine times in 116 at bats ... As a freshman at San Diego State, Coulter started 13 of 17 games played, batted .240 with eight RBIs and fielded .983 ... In high school at West Hills, Coulter was a two-time All-Grossmont North League pick, as well as winning all-CIF honors ... As a senior, Coulter hit .436 with 14 doubles, nine home runs and had 29 RBIs ... He was a member of the school's first state championship team in 2002 ...
