2013: Schumacher made five starts before an injury cut his season short, going 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA...Fanned 27 batters and walked just eight over 27.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .198 batting mark...Earned MVC Pitcher of the Week laurels Feb. 18 after holding eventual NCAA Tournament qualifier Sam Houston State to one run on six hits while striking out nine batters over 7.0 innings at the Bobcat Invitational...Returned from a four-week hiatus with 8.0 shutout innings vs. Indiana State (March 31), fanning seven and holding the defending league champions to two hits in an eventual no-decision...Named to the MVC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll...Granted a medical hardship over the summer after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in late April.

Background: Schumacher came to Missouri State by way of Johnson County Community College, where he was named JCCC's Male Athlete of the Year in 2011 after racking up 10 victories--the third-highest single-season total in school history--and posting an ERA of 1.70...Struck out 80 batters over 82.1 innings to finish his career with a program record 136 punchouts...His 17 career wins rank second all-time at JCCC...Went 7-1 with 56 strikeouts in 51 innings as a freshman in 2010, helping JCCC to a conference title and 44-14 record...In high school, Schumacher's Hayden High team won a Kansas Class 4A state title his senior season, as he went 5-1 with a 1.40 ERA on the mound and batted .418 with 18 RBIs as an all-state, all-league and all-city performer...Was first-team all-league and all-city as a junior, and a second-team all-league pick after his sophomore season, as Hayden finished third in the state tournament both seasons.
