SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State swimming & diving team faces stiff competition this weekend when a pair of SEC schools in Missouri and Arkansas visit the Hammons Student Center Pool Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers and Bears men and women square off Friday at 5 p.m., while the MSU and Arkansas women will swim Saturday at 1 p.m. Mizzou is ranked No. 14 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America men's top 25 poll and the Arkansas women are No. 15 in the women's poll.

Meet Notes
• The Missouri State men are 8-14 all-time against Mizzou in dual meets, while the women are winless versus the Tigers in 12 tries.
• The men's team is 12-41 (.226) overall against schools currently in the SEC. The Bears have earned wins versus Mizzou, Arkansas (three) and LSU (one).
• The women have never beaten an SEC team in dual competition, going 0-23 against Alabama (0-1), Arkansas (0-8), Kentucky (0-1), LSU (0-1) and Mizzou (0-12).
• The Missouri State men set five pool records in a weekend sweep of Evansville and Southern Illinois last Friday and Saturday. The Bears set pool bests against the Salukis in the 200-yard IM (sophomore Uvis Kalnins, 1:49.63), the 200 backstroke (junior Paul Le, 1:45.61) and 400 free relay (Le, Kalnins, junior Isaac McKnight and senior Vitalii Baryshok, 3:02.58). Two more came against Evansville in the 50 free (Le, 20.35) and 100 breaststroke (sophomore Isaac Springer, 55.89).
• Le's swim in the 50 free versus the Aces ranks as the 20th best in the country. He also has the 16th best 100 back (48.50), seventh best 200 back (1:45.61) and 10th best 200 IM (1:49.26) in the nation.
• Springer holds the 25th best 100 breast time at 55.89, while Kalnins' 200 IM is 14th in the country at 1:49.63.
• Senior Renata Sander picked Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week honors Monday for the second time in her career. The weekly award is the first for the women's team this season.
• Sander won three events each against UE and SIU. She was victorious in the 200-yard IM in 2:09.85, 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.10 individually, and was part of the 200-medley relay winning squad in 1:48.12 against the Purple Aces. She claimed the 200 IM (2:10.49) and 200 breast (2:21.73) individually against the Salukis. She was also part of the 400 medley relay winner in 3:54.89.
