Bears Prepare for Dual in the Pool against Drury University

The Missouri State swim team kicks off the home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a dual against Drury University.  Drury is the defending NCAA division II national champion, and has won the title seven times.  The men are 7-9 all time against Drury, while the women are 1-3.

Both Missouri State teams are 1-1 in their dual season, while Drury opens their dual season this weekend.  Missouri State and Drury met up previously on Oct. 10 at the Missouri Showdown.  Missouri State came out with the top spot on the men's side, while the Bears women placed second overall.  Both Drury teams finished third.

The Bears are looking to rebound after a tough meet in Iowa City, Iowa against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Oct. 24.  Both teams lost; the men 188.5-109.5 and the women 188-112.  Though the outcome was a loss, both teams swam strong.  Freshman Marta Nogueroles lead the Bears with two first-place finishes, while juniors Roko Simunic and Dillon Burns were the only men with top finishes in their respective individual events.  Off the boards, senior Heather Fulton thrived, finishing with the top scores off of the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Following the Drury dual, Missouri State will host Lindenwood University on Nov. 6 at the Hammons Student Center Pool.  Lindenwood also competed in the Missouri Showdown in Columbia, Mo., and earned sixth place finishes for both the men and women.
